Kartik swami

Kartik Swami Temple is a sacred Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Kartikeya, the son of Lord Shiva, located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, India. Perched at an altitude of approximately 3,048 meters, the temple offers breathtaking 360-degree views of the snow-clad Himalayas, including Nanda Devi and Chaukhamba peaks.

According to legend, Lord Kartikeya relinquished his flesh to his mother, Goddess Parvati, and meditated at this site in his skeletal form, hence the temple is known for its unique skeletal idol.

The trek to Kartik Swami starts from Kanak Chauri village and is about 3 km long, passing through dense forests and scenic landscapes. It is a lesser-known yet spiritually powerful destination, ideal for both pilgrims and adventure enthusiasts. The temple remains accessible throughout the year but is best visited between March and November for clear views and pleasant weather.
